Senior RF Engineer

Our client, a leader in the telecommunications industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior RF Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA . This position offers a Hybrid work model, providing a blend of remote flexibility and on-site collaboration. You will be responsible for the design, optimization, and performance analysis of Radio Frequency (RF) networks, ensuring the highest standards of service quality and coverage.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in RF principles coupled with practical experience in deploying and troubleshooting RF systems. You will play a key role in enhancing our wireless network infrastructure and driving innovation in RF technology. • Design, plan, and optimize RF network infrastructure for cellular and wireless systems.
• Conduct site surveys and drive testing to evaluate network performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Perform RF propagation modeling and simulation to predict network coverage and capacity.
• Analyze RF performance data, identify root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain RF design documentation, including cell site data, antenna parameters, and configuration settings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., network operations, planning, and equipment vendors) to ensure successful network deployment and integration.
• Stay abreast of the latest RF technologies, standards, and industry best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex RF interference and performance issues.
• Generate regular performance reports and present findings to management.
• Contribute to the development of new RF planning tools and methodologies.
• Mentor junior RF engineers and provide technical guidance.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in RF engineering within the telecommunications sector.
• In-depth knowledge of RF principles, including propagation, interference, and modulation techniques.
• Proficiency with RF planning and optimization tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet).
• Experience with cellular network technologies (e.g., LTE, 5G ).
• Familiarity with RF test equipment and measurement techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, crucial for hybrid collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Experience with drive testing and post-processing tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of antenna systems and their impact on RF performance.
