Financial Accountant
Capital International is looking for a hardworking individual to join our finance team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the preparation of financial and management reports, providing valuable insights and information.
Principal Responsibilities
- Finance & Payroll
Accounts preparation (for the regulated and non-regulated entities)
Ownership of the month end process and deliverables for assigned subsidiaries, leading to the submission of accurate monthly management accounts in a timely mannerMonthly reviews of all subsidiary management accounts, including accurate variance commentary and budget vs actual analysisAssisting the Group Financial Controller with the production and analysis of consolidated management accountsPreparation of annual company tax returns, including liaison with the relevant authoritiesAssistance with the preparation of subsidiary financial statementsBecome subject matter expert for SAGE Intacct accounting system and contribute actively to development of this toolSign off monthly and quarterly customer invoicesPrepare service charge accounts for CILSA Investments and CILSA Solutions for the relevant tenantsAssist and maintain KPI’s in different areas of the businessPrepare quarterly financial resource returns and alert Group Financial Controller with any potential liquidity issuesPreparation/review of VAT returns and online submissionsAssist Group Financial Controller with any ongoing projectsAssisting with the preparation, review and reconciliation of monthly accruals and prepaymentsMaintenance of fixed asset registersPreparation of monthly bank reconciliationsPreparation and assistance in the monthly payroll processIssuing of client invoices, maintaining of aged receivables and related mattersData capture and reconciliation of all revenuePreparation of cash flows and related analysis, including cash flow modellingAssistance in capital adequacy requirements and other regulatory reportingCoordination and assistance with the annual audits and liaising with auditors, both locally in South Africa and internationally in the Isle of Man and JerseyAssisting our Finance Business Partners with any ad-hoc requestsUtilise financial acumen to provide financial insight to business partners and senior leadership by studying operational issues, applying financial principles and practicesWork together effectively with junior accountant to develop great working relationship and efficient division of tasksConstantly find ways to improve processes using efficiency tools, demonstrate a willingness to understand the latest technology (including AI) and how we can utilise this in our finance workflows
Audit preparation
Ensure accounting entries are clear throughout year and that the thought processes are documented, to ensure a smooth auditAssist auditors with queriesPlay a key role in, or ideally take the lead in, preparation of financial statementsKeep up to date with UK GAAP/IFRS developments and changes
Maintain liquidity
Continually review company cash flow position and advise senior management of any expected cashflow difficultiesSupervise and assist team to ensure accounts remain in credit (being conscious of DD payments)
Payroll
Full review of payroll preparation, release and reporting
Responsible for reviewing reports but not limited to
Management AccountsCustomer InvoicesPayment Authorisation
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Qualified financial or chartered accountant (ACA or ACCA or SAIPA or SAICA) with relevant qualification1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or completion of accounting articlesKnowledge of reporting and working with multi currenciesKnowledge of working with multiple companiesPrevious experience in leading a team either through Team leadership/Management leadershipIFRS knowledgeStrong financial control skills/standards/principlesPrevious experience in preparation of full trial balance and Annual Financial StatementsAn excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
