Kendrick Recruitment is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join the Cape Town head office of a leading luxury lodge group. This is a great opportunity for a strong finance professional who enjoys both the technical and people side of the role. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, support accurate reporting and financial controls, and provide guidance and supervision to junior members of the finance team.
Therole will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day accounting and finance function
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and accounting schedules
- Managing month-end and year-end processes
- Preparing management accounts and financial reports
- Completing bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
- Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reviewing financial transactions for accuracy and completeness
- Assisting with budgets, forecasts and financial analysis
- Monitoring financial performance and investigating variances
- Ensuring financial information is processed accurately and timeously
- Assisting with audit preparation and supporting documentation
- Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring company procedures are followed
- Supervising; mentoring and supporting junior members of the finance team
- Working closely with management and operational teams to provide meaningful financial information and support decision-making
- Has a relevant Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Has approximately 3-5 years' relevant financial accounting experience
- Has previous experience supervising and/or mentoring a finance team
- Has a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Is confident with reconciliations, reporting and month-end processes
- Has strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Is highly organised, accurate and comfortable working to deadlines
- Is proactive, analytical and solutions-focused
- Communicates well and is confident working with both finance and operational teams
- Is professional, reliable and trustworthy
- Experience with Xero would be advantageous, and previous exposure to the hospitality industry would be a definite plus, although it is not essential.
This role would suit someone who is ready to take ownership of a busy finance function while still remaining hands-on and closely involved in the detail.
