Senior private-debt investment role leading origination, transaction execution, credit analysis and portfolio management for financial institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Senior Investment Officer will lead financial-institution debt investments across Sub-Saharan Africa, providing senior and subordinated debt to banks and other financial institutions. Based in Cape Town, the role covers relationship development, origination, credit analysis, transaction structuring and active portfolio management across the complete investment cycle. • Build relationships and identify debt-investment opportunities with financial institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa
• Originate, execute and actively manage senior and subordinated debt investments
• Conduct on-site and off-site credit and market-risk analysis of counter parties
• Lead due-diligence and scoring exercises with the Credit and Risk teams
• Structure and implement transactions with Risk, Investment Committees, transaction teams and external parties
• Manage the full investment cycle from sourcing through execution, portfolio decisions and monitoring
• Represent respons
  
  Ability at conferences, seminars and relevant industry events in a leadership capacity
• Mentor junior members of the investment team

• Master's-level degree in economics, business administration, finance or a related field
• At least eight years of relevant financial-sector experience in an international environment
• Credit-analysis or comparable investment experience
• Strong knowledge of Sub-Saharan African financial markets and banking systems
• Knowledge of small-business and SME finance, leasing and consumer or unsecured finance
• Strong credit-writing, analytical, commercial and presentation skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently in a multicultural environment
• Willingness to travel frequently within Sub-Saharan Africa

• French or Arabic language skills
