The Head of Collections | Fintech is a full-time, on-site role based in Cape Town, responsible for overseeing all collections operations and strategies. This role manages the end-to-end collections lifecycle, including policy development, process optimization, and performance monitoring across portfolios.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring collections teams and managers, setting targets, monitoring key metrics, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

The Head of Collections collaborates closely with Head quarters, finance, risk, operations, and technology teams to refine credit and collections strategies, improve recovery rates, and minimize losses. The role also involves regular analysis of portfolio performance, reporting to senior leadership, and driving continuous improvement initiatives through data insights and industry best practices.

• Strong expertise in Debt Collection and Collections Management, with a proven track record of improving recovery performance.
• Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and drive evidence-based decisions in collection strategies.
• Demonstrated Team Management capabilities, including mentoring, performance management, and building high-performing teams.
• Good understanding of Collections principles to align collections activities with cash flow, risk management, and compliance objectives.
• 3-5 years experience in a senior collections or credit risk role within financial services or a similar regulated environment.
• Knowledge of relevant collections legislation, regulatory requirements, and ethical practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to manage complex and escalated cases.
• Comfort with using collections software, CRM systems, and reporting tools; strong proficiency in Excel or similar analytical tools.
• Matric Certificate is required
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Ability to work on-site in Cape Town and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
