An established organisation based in Wynberg, Cape Town is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Financial Manager to take responsibility for the organisation's finance function.

This is an urgent appointment, and candidates must be available to start immediately with no notice period.

The successful candidate will be a dependable and detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable managing both the strategic and day-to-day financial requirements of an organisation. Previous experience within an NGO/NPO environment would be highly advantageous; however, strong Financial Managers from other sectors will also be considered.

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation.
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
• Monitor income and expenditure against approved budgets.
• Maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure financial records are complete, accurate and maintained appropriately.
• Manage statutory and regulatory financial compliance requirements.
• Coordinate and prepare documentation for annual audits.
• Liaise with auditors, financial institutions and other relevant external stakeholders.
• Prepare financial information and reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor cash flow and ensure the organisation meets its financial commitments.
• Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate corrective action.
• Support management with financial analysis and informed decision-making.
• Where applicable, manage financial reporting relating to grants, donor funding and restricted funds.
• Ensure funding is appropriately allocated and expenditure is accurately recorded against relevant budgets.
• Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes and controls.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven experience in a Financial Manager, Senior Accountant or similar senior finance position.
• Strong practical accounting and financial management experience.
• Solid knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting annual audit processes.
• Good understanding of financial controls and statutory compliance.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of financial accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Must be available to start immediately – candidates serving a notice period cannot be considered due to the urgency of the appointment.
• Must be able to work in Wynberg, Cape Town.

Previous experience within an NGO, NPO, non-profit or donor-funded environment would be highly advantageous, particularly experience involving:

• Grant and donor funding
• Donor or funder reporting
• Restricted funding and allocation of expenditure
• Grant budgets and financial tracking
• Audit and governance requirements within the non-profit sector

NGO/NPO experience is preferred but not essential
. Candidates with strong commercial Financial Management experience, a stable career history and the ability to adapt successfully to a non-profit environment are encouraged to apply.

They should be comfortable working in an environment where sound financial governance, accountability and careful management of resources are essential.
