The candidate's main focus will be to support the Financial Structuring Lead in identifying, evaluating, and executing energy and infrastructure opportunities in Africa. In this junior-to-mid level role, the candidate will conduct financial due diligence, analysis, and modelling, gaining exposure to blended finance, guarantees, and project finance. Additionally, they will contribute to technical assessments, risk analysis, and documentation to ensure the timely progression of the deal pipeline.
You will succeed in this role if you can build and maintain detailed financial models for project finance while conducting thorough financial due diligence, including contract analysis and data room management. You will thrive by analysing structuring options, blended finance concepts, and risk transfer mechanisms, while effectively coordinating with internal stakeholders across legal, risk, compliance, and ESG teams. Finally, success means translating complex data into high-quality memos, presentations, and term sheets for external partners like DFIs and MDBs, and actively supporting the deal pipeline through market research, risk assessments, and direct participation in meetings with developers and investors.

How you will contribute:- Conduct financial due diligence on project opportunities, including data room reviews, contract analysis, and key risk assessment.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models (project finance, cash flow models, debt service, sensitivity and scenario analysis) to support investment decisions and financing terms.
- Analyse structuring options, cross-border financing considerations, and risk transfer mechanisms (including guarantees and credit enhancements).
- Prepare high-quality summaries, memos, and presentations for internal committees and external partners (DFIs, MDBs, investors).
- Assist with blended finance design concepts and the evaluation of de-risking instruments and grant components where applicable.
- Support due diligence teams with market research, counter party assessments, and regulatory/commercial risk analysis.
