Finance Manager

Are you a commercially minded finance professional with hospitality experience looking for an opportunity to influence strategy and drive business growth?

Our client, a well-established hotel group with a portfolio of more than a dozen properties across South Africa, is looking to appoint a Financial Manager to lead the finance function from their Cape Town head office. Reporting directly to the CEO and shareholders, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in both the operational and strategic direction of a growing hospitality business.

You will be responsible for the overall financial management of the group, including:

• Managing the month-end close, consolidations and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Preparing management reports and presenting property-level performance and variances to senior leadership.
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
• Managing cash flow, banking, EFT authorisations and rolling cash flow forecasts.
• Overseeing hotel revenue controls, daily cash-ups, debtors, banking and stock management.
• Managing statutory compliance, including VAT, PAYE, income tax and payroll.
• Preparing annual financial statements and coordinating the external audit.
• Partnering with shareholders on strategic initiatives, including hotel developments, acquisitions, feasibility studies, valuations and funding opportunities.
• Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team.
• Travelling to properties from time to time to support finance operations and internal controls.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Previous finance experience within the hospitality industry (essential).
• A solid understanding of hotel operations and hospitality revenue streams.
• A professional finance qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA/CGMA, AGA(SA) or a similar recognised qualification.
• Experience managing finance across multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax compliance and financial reporting.
• A commercial mindset with the ability to partner with operational stakeholders.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Afrikaans language skills will be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to properties as required.
