Development Management

Building Inspector

• A relevant National Diploma;
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant building industry experience
• A technical and operational understanding of the Building
• Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relating to Land Use Management and the Building Control function.
• Eligibility for registration as a Peace Officer (Law Enforcement Officer)
• Proficiency in MS Office
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
• Own vehicle

• Perform inspections on all building sites to ensure that National Building regulations (N ) promulgated in terms of the Act are adhered to.
• Administering the issuing of legal notices relating to building inspections as well as dealing with building regulation contraventions. In order to ensure that an informed, legally compliant decision is made with regard to prosecutions relating to unauthorized building work.
• Provide a technical interface between Development Management, its customers and external stakeholders. In order to ensure that newly erected buildings and existing buildings comply with the relevant regulations and requirements.
• Providing technical support to internal stakeholders in order to ensure that comment is provided to support internal department operations.
• Ensuring all technical requirements are available to staff processing building development applications. In order to ensure the highest level of customer care for the Building Development management sections in a manner that conforms to legal turn around times for all development applications.
