To drive, protect and enhance the Clicks brand by taking responsibility for ensuring all products developed and sourced as part of the NPD (Beauty) plan and subsequently sold in our stores have integrity and at a minimum meet the local and international quality, health and safety requirements whilst constantly striving to deliver increased profitability and grow market share.

Job Objectives Manage Quality , Safety & Legislation

To support the PL technologist within their development plans to ensure quality and safety compliance across all PL development by adhering to legislation and NPD approval processes to protect the brand reputation and financial impact on the business.

To facilitate the RAG (retention samples) process kept for each product and maintain database of retention samples.

Requesting updated samples and effective management of expired retention samples.

Assist with the signing of RAG forms and stickers and ensure compliance to the Private Label RAG process.

Assist the technologist with implementation of the CTSO into the business and the supplier base and maintain all quality processes and correct paperwork.

Ensure product specifications conform to the quality standards.

Assist where necessary with writing quality protocols/SOP’s procedures and manuals for all categories (health, beauty, confectionary, electrical and home ware).

Assist where necessary with updating the CTSO with new quality processes and protocols.

Support the technologist with Review and communicate TQM results to relevant stakeholders (including customer complaints, quality control results etc).

Report and feedback on quality timeously.

Ensure the China QA office is used for all export requirements and the RAG process is followed.

Assist the technologist with implementation of the DC release process.

Support the technologist in preparation of ongoing and timeous sales, quality and corrective action reports (including supplier scorecards) for management through drawing, analysing and interpreting accurate data.

Support the technologist in responsibilities relevant to customer complaints/queries, red alerts, public product recall and product withdrawals.

Assist the technologist with technical training with regards to product and process for new product launch.

Manage NPD & Costs

Assist with bi-annual competitor quality review report.

Support in the management of relevant technical information to enable final sign off of projects for product and packaging compliance.

Support the technologist in adherence and input of the critical path.

Support the technologists in facilitating user trials and reporting on the outcomes.

Support the export – project framework/plan to retrofit product into international rules and launch timeously.

Assist with the building of good working relationships with suppliers.

Understand the impact of low or no in – fills on the categories and resolve issues of quality/capacity.

General

Development – to up‑skill and mentor assistants via the PA and IDP process and drive own development via individual IDP and reporting to management on progress.

To actively demonstrate the Clicks values in day‑to‑day activities.

To assist the technologist in all administrative duties relating to RAG approval and ad hoc reporting requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

Will have a basic knowledge of Cosmetic within Personal Care and Colour Cosmetic product development, formulation, quality management, supplier auditing experience and basic product knowledge.

Will be able to use their technical know how to solve problems and create business opportunities to enhance consumer value.

Will have the ability to work within a multi‑functional team, effectively build relationships with potential technology/research partners and communicate new regulations/technologies to non‑technical team members.

Will be comfortable working with a high level of autonomy, with a sound understanding of value chain impact with respect to decision making.

Will be able to clearly communicate and manage risks.

Candidates should possess a basic manufacture and quality knowledge of cosmetic products. A qualification in product development or a beauty‑related discipline is preferred, along with at least 2 years of experience in product development, customer interaction or manufacturing.
