Job DescriptionThe Clinical Support Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing patient‑centred clinical support programmes, including home-based care, stoma services, clinical counselling, and medical equipment provision. The role ensures high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, staff excellence, and alignment with CANSA’s broader clinical and organisational objectives. The incumbent will optimise operations, expand strategic partnerships, and strengthen holistic support for cancer patients and their families.
Roles and Responsibilities- Home‑Based & Palliative Care:
Oversee paid and volunteer teams delivering compassionate end‑of‑life and home‑based care; manage scheduling, training, monitoring of outcomes, and partnerships to expand service reach, targeting 20% annual growth in service hours. - Stoma Services:
Lead clinical care, patient education, follow‑up, and staff training; ensure adherence to best practices and DOH compliance; collaborate with Finance on retail and supply management. - Clinical Counselling:
Supervise counsellors supporting patients and families; integrate counselling into wellness programmes while maintaining ethical standards and ongoing professional development. - Medical Equipment Services:
Coordinate procurement, maintenance, allocation, and user training of medical equipment; optimise stock management and funding through cross‑functional collaboration. - Team Leadership:
Mentor and manage clinical staff and volunteers; foster interdepartmental collaboration; enforce policies and promote a culture of continuous improvement. - Monitoring & Reporting:
Track key performance indicators such as patient satisfaction and service utilisation; compile executive reports and implement quality improvement initiatives. - Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:
Develop and maintain relationships with funders, suppliers, DOH, and community organisations to strengthen service delivery, sustainability, and community impact.
- BCur (Nursing) or equivalent qualification with current South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in clinical programme management, with at least 2 years in palliative care, home‑based care, or NGO environments
- Experience in stoma care or clinical counselling will be advantageous
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for community outreach
- Proven leadership, people management, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication abilities
- Sound knowledge of DOH guidelines, palliative care best practices, and patient‑centred care models
- Demonstrated commitment to health equity and nonprofit mission‑driven work
