Data Scientist (Experimentation) – Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa – Full-time
OverviewWe’re evolving our experimentation platform that empowers product teams to make bold, data‑driven decisions. As a Data Scientist (Experimentation), you’ll become a trusted partner throughout the entire lifecycle of an experiment, from crafting hypotheses to designing tests, analyzing results, and shaping the methodologies that determine how our business learns. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of statistics, product thinking, and storytelling.
You won’t just crunch numbers, you’ll influence strategy, invent new measurement approaches, and help scale a culture of experimentation across the organization.
- Collaborate with product, design, engineering, and analytics to turn ambiguous business questions into testable hypotheses.
- Design high‑quality experiments that balance rigor and velocity, using modern causal inference and statistical techniques.
- Perform deep‑dive analyses in SQL and Python to uncover insights and measure impact.
- Build dashboards, visualizations, and decision‑making tools in Power BI or Tableau.
- Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels from technical deep dives to executive summaries.
- Drive innovation in experimentation: sequential testing, CUPED, MAB, variance reduction, metric design, power analysis, and more.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business to proactively identify opportunities for experimentation.
- Contribute to our data culture through mentorship, knowledge‑sharing, and team collaboration.
- Support BAU experimentation operations that keep our platform running smoothly.
- Harness cutting‑edge Snowflake compute to develop AI applications directly inside the Snowflake ecosystem.
A quantitative degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Engineering, or similar.
- 1+ years in data analytics, data science, experimentation, or a related quantitative role.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Solid grasp of statistics and experimentation concepts.
- Passion for data, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Comfort working in a distributed, multidisciplinary team.
