We are excited to offer an on‑site position in either Johannesburg or Cape Town.

• Provide DBA support to our data integration and business intelligence teams.
• Identify impacts on our current code base for DDL schema changes.
• Configure and maintain databases and processes.
• Monitor system health and performance.
• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.

• Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Experience with Bash scripting in Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Familiarity with database security best practices.
• Experience with backup, restore, and high‑availability solutions for MySQL.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Bitbucket).

• Experience with other scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.).
• Experience handling and analyzing complex scientific datasets.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS).
• Experience with Dev Ops tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with data integration and/or traditional ETL.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Passionate about technology and problem‑solving.
• Self‑motivated, ambitious, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
• Creative, outside‑the‑box thinker who looks beyond standard solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
