DescriptionA few application tips…
We want to help you put your best foot forward. Here are a few things we look for:
- Clear, specific examples of your work and impact
- Relevant experience aligned with the role’s focus
- A thoughtful response to any application questions
- A resume that highlights both what you did and why it mattered
If you’re unsure whether your background is the “perfect fit,” we still encourage you to apply. We value potential and growth just as much as experience.
Why this role exists… As the demand for data-driven decision-making continues to grow across our client base, so does the need for expert guidance in turning raw data into actionable insights. At Snap, we’re expanding our Databricks programme at one of our key, strategic clients to meet increasing business demand for fast, reliable access to enterprise data.
We’re launching a new workstream to accelerate data integration and product delivery, and we’re looking for a Principal Data Platform Consultant to lead the charge. This is a high-priority role with a clear mandate to deliver impact quickly.
What you'll be doing...You’ll play a central role in designing and delivering scalable data solutions on Databricks. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to refine requirements, lead solution design, and manage a growing team of developers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading solution design within the existing Databricks data warehouse framework
- Managing and mentoring a small team of developers (starting with 1–2, scaling to 5–6)
- Hands-on development of data pipelines using Python and SQL
- Making key design decisions around data models and engineering pipelines
- Collaborating daily in agile ceremonies and cross-functional meetings
- Contribute to Snap’s go-to market strategy for Databricks
In your first 3–6 months, success might look like:
- A successful go-live of a new data product
- Completion of UAT and stakeholder sign-off
- A successful embedding a new workstream in the customers’ wider programme
We’re looking for someone who brings strategic vision, technical depth, and commercial acumen.
You might be a great fit if you have:
- Proven experience in enterprise data warehouse development within Databricks
- Strong knowledge of Databricks best practices, specifically around closing the gap between data ingestion and data being available for analytics use cases
- Awareness of the Databricks technology roadmap and ability to advise clients on emerging features
- Experience with metadata-driven data warehouse approaches
- Hands-on coding skills in Python and SQL
- Thought leadership, ideally with a personal brand beyond your current organisation
- Comfort working in agile, collaborative environments with daily stand-ups and shared ownership
Bonus skills:
- Experience integrating SAP data into Databricks using Five Tran
- Familiarity with Matillion or DBT
- Knowledge of Great Expectations or other data validation / data quality frameworks
This role might not be the right fit if you’re looking for…
- A solo working style: this role thrives on collaboration and agile teamwork
- Minimal client interaction: our Principals are expected to advise and influence external stakeholders
