Our client in the IT industry is currently looking to employ a Customer Engineer to join their team based in Platterkloof, Cape Town.
Requirements QualificationsGrade 12
CompTIA A+ & Network+
CCNA / CCNP
MCITP / MCSE (Windows Server 2012+)
Microsoft 365 Administration
Veeam VTSP or equivalent
Microsoft Azure (advantageous)
Vendor certifications (HPE, Dell, Lenovo, IBM – advantageous)
Firewall certifications (Sophos, Uni Fi, Sonic Wall, pf Sense – advantageous)
5–10 years in IT
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Windows Server administration, troubleshooting, and virtualised environments (VMware / Hyper-V)
Computers, laptops, printers, network copiers
Microsoft 365 Suite (licensing, products, services)
Windows 10 & 11;
Windows Server 2012+Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, RDS roles
Virtualisation: VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, Proxmox
Redundancy strategies: RAID, HA, Failover, MPIO
SAN storage management
LAN/WAN networks;
Cisco & Aruba switchesNetworking: VLAN, routing, switching
Firewall management: ACL, zones, NAT
Public services: DNS, public IPs, subnetting
Backup systems (local & cloud)
Remote monitoring:
Datto, Solar Winds, AutotaskBasic scripting for large deployments
ITIL processes
Endpoint security (Bitdefender – advantageous)
Bilingual:
English & AfrikaansValid driver’s license and reliable transport
Willingness to work overtime and be available for standby support
Provide support via email, phone, and remote access
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues
Manage users, groups, GPOs, and logon scripts via Active Directory
Install, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 applications
Replace and repair desktop and laptop hardware components
Maintain accurate IT asset, licensing, and configuration documentation
Ensure adherence to security standards and company policies
Investigate and resolve escalated incidents using logs, metrics, and system analysis
Manage and maintain VMware and Hyper-V environments
Ensure patch compliance and resolve patch-related failures
Assist with server integration (email, print, backup systems)
Perform server audits, backups, and disaster recovery processes
Support Active Directory and identity management systems
Collaborate on complex issues and infrastructure projects
Lead infrastructure and network upgrades and improvements
Design, implement, and maintain server, storage, network, and security infrastructure
Oversee escalations and ensure SLA compliance
Conduct onsite client support when required
Liaise with third-party vendors for hardware and system issues
Maintain detailed system and network documentation
Monitor system capacity and optimize performance
Compile infrastructure health check and technical reports
Ensure backup systems are operational and policies enforced
Develop preventative maintenance strategies
Proactively identify risks and notify stakeholders
Lead resolution during major outages
Adhere to Change Management and Incident Management processes
Stay current with industry trends and best practices
