DATA Engineer – Enhance Docker Management firm On-Site

Exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Data Engineer, to be part of a specialist and young team, led by a dynamic leadership group, to build in-house investment management systems while enhancing your existing Docker, Python and SQL skills.

Based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, this Data Engineer opportunity offers a competitive salary.

The Role:

As a Data Engineer, your role will be to design and manage database architecture, data flow, and processes for the investment team.

Strong Containerised (Docker) data application skills, Python and SQL skills, along with experience in large-scale data management, version control, and database solutions, are essential. Key responsibilities include handling data reception, transfer, processing, and integration with third-party systems to support investment research and operations.

Minimum Requirements:

University Degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems/ Maths/ Stats/ Business Science/ Actuarial.

2 - 3 Years’ experience with a specific focus in database management & data analysis.

Experience with setting up and running containerised (e.g. Docker) data applications.

Strong Python Programming skills are a must.

SQL programming experience.

Experience in having produced ETL processes at scale are essential.

Basic understanding of financial instruments and markets.

Linux Server administration experience.

Git version control.

Flask, FastAPI is beneficial.
