Junior Data Analyst

Junior Data Analyst job vacancy in Cape Town.

We’re looking for a sharp, detail-oriented graduate who wants to build a career in data. This role offers exposure to real commercial and operational data, where your analysis will directly influence business decisions.

You’ll work with large datasets, support reporting and performance tracking, and help turn raw data into clear insights. It’s an ideal opportunity for a high-performing quantitative graduate who wants hands‑on experience and rapid growth.

Salary: R19,000 – R39,000 per month (depending on experience).

Area: V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.

Type:
Hybrid – 3 to 4 days in office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extract and manipulate data using SQL
• Support reporting across commercial, operational and risk functions
• Analyse trends and performance metrics
• Assist in building dashboards and visual reports
• Validate data accuracy and maintain data integrity
• Work with senior analysts to generate actionable insights
• Present findings clearly to internal stakeholders

Requirements:

• 0 to 3 years of experience in a data or analytical role
• Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science or a related quantitative field
• Strong academic record:
  • GPA above 70% from UCT, Stellenbosch, Wits or UP
  • GPA above 80% from other universities
• Strong SQL skills
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Comfortable working with large datasets
• Based in Cape Town and able to work in office 3 to 4 days per week
• Advantageous:
  • Experience with Python or R
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Interest in working across commercial, operational and analytical areas
