Who We Are Looking For

Crisis
24’s Crisis Security Consulting (CSC) team is seeking an Associate Consultant to join our expanding Middle East & Africa practice, based in South Africa. The successful candidate will support a range of projects across the region, contributing to client deliverables spanning threat assessments, crisis response, and security consulting.

The position requires a postgraduate qualification (Master’s or Honors level) in a relevant field, or equivalent experience, along with 2–3 years of relevant work experience, and a strong interest in geopolitical and security issues across the Middle East & Africa. A willingness to travel, including to higher threat environments, and adapt to bespoke, international projects is essential.

Location and Travel Requirements
  • Place of Work:
    Cape Town, South Africa.
Please note that this opportunity is open only to candidates currently residing in Cape Town
  • Travel Expectations:
This role requires some international travel in support of consulting projects. Flexibility and readiness to deploy at short notice – both domestically and overseas to higher threat environments – are essential.
What You Will Work On

You will contribute to a variety of projects and deliverables within the Crisis Security Consulting department. This includes:

  • Conducting bespoke threat assessments and other client deliverables – primarily across the Middle East & Africa, but also more broadly to include Asia Pacific and Europe
  • Supporting CSC consultants with client-facing projects and deliverables, including preparing presentations, training materials, bespoke research, and other supporting functions as required
  • Supporting CSC consultants with the delivery of projects ranging from security risk management, crisis management, business continuity, and other bespoke consultancy projects
  • Supporting client operations and on-the-ground deployments, including in challenging environments
  • Analyzing and presenting to clients in concise and actionable formats
  • Assisting in cyber and physical threat assessments, including the intersection of cyber and geopolitical risks
  • Participating in an on-call rotation to provide timely response support when required

This role offers excellent exposure to a range of crisis management and consulting activities, with structured professional development and mentorship within Crisis
24.

Who You Will Work With

You will collaborate with colleagues across the Crisis
24 global network - including teams in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific — as well as with partners within the Garda World group. Cross-functional teamwork with our Special Risks, All Hazards, and Product Risk units will be a key part of your role.

What You Will Bring
  • Master’s level qualification in International Relations, Security Studies, War Studies, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience (consulting, risk management, intelligence, or security-related work)
  • Native proficiency in English, written and spoken (a second language such as French is highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in cyber security, including awareness of cyber threat actors and digital risk trends
  • An understanding of security and risk management principles based on best practice standards
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, including willingness to travel within the region, occasionally to higher-risk environments
  • Integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Strong IT literacy, including use of Microsoft applications and OSINT tools
  • Eligibility to reside and work in South Africa
Preferred
  • Experience working or traveling across Africa, particularly in complex or high-risk environments
  • Familiarity with OSINT monitoring platforms and digital threat intelligence tools
  • Awareness of malware/ransomware trends, or experience contributing to cyber threat assessments
  • Understanding of cross-domain security challenges - physical, informational, and digital
