Introduction

ARE YOU OUR NEXT RISK AND INTELLIGENCE MANAGER? City Logistics is seeking a highly analytical and proactive Risk Intelligence Manager to drive a shift from reactive risk management to predictive risk prevention across our operations. The successful incumbent will be responsible for gathering, analysing, and interpreting internal and external data to proactively identify threats, support informed decision‑making, and strengthen the company’s risk posture within the logistics environment.

This role is critical in protecting our people, assets, and operations through intelligence‑led insights, advanced systems utilisation, and strong stakeholder collaboration.

Core Focus Areas
  • Industry Threat Intelligence & Analysis
    • Gather and analyse external intelligence relating to regional risks and organised crime targeting the logistics sector.
    • Monitor and track geographic hotspots for hijackings, cargo theft, and warehouse incidents.
    • Analyse internal incident data, audit findings, and operational reports to identify trends and vulnerabilities.
    • Develop predictive insights through risk heat maps and actionable intelligence reports.
    • Track macro risks including political unrest, strikes, protests, and regulatory changes impacting operations.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with SAPS, NPA, and industry risk forums to support intelligence sharing.
  • Threat Investigation & Proactive Mitigation
    • Lead high‑priority investigations into incidents, fraud, and security breaches using intelligence‑led approaches.
    • Manage investigation processes including evidence gathering, interviews, and case file management.
    • Oversee surveillance activities including CCTV analytics and vehicle tracking insights.
    • Coordinate integrity testing of security protocols, drivers, and guards to proactively identify vulnerabilities.
  • Strategy, Systems & Risk Integration
    • Translate intelligence findings into operational risk mitigation strategies and countermeasures.
    • Conduct specialised risk assessments for routes, truck stops, cargo, and new operational initiatives.
    • Oversee the implementation and utilisation of intelligence and risk management technologies.
  • Critical Requirement
    • Strong capability in interpreting and analysing logistics systems data.
    • Practical experience working with transport management systems, tracking platforms, and data analytics tools.
    • The ability to integrate multiple data sources into meaningful, actionable intelligence.
Minimum Requirements
  • NQF Level 6 (National Diploma in Policing, Security Studies or Management) – highly advantageous.
  • PSIRA Grade A (essential).
  • Proven experience in Law Enforcement, Private Security, Logistics or Risk Management.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Code EB).
  • Strong management experience in leading investigations within a logistics environment.
  • Advanced systems competency including Excel (advanced level), Power BI or similar analytical tools.
  • Logistics systems, tracking platforms and telematics.
  • CCTV analytics and surveillance technologies.
  • Experience with social media monitoring or open‑source intelligence tools.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Sound knowledge of Criminal Procedure Act, Law of Evidence and Labour Law.
  • Strong report writing skills with clear, factual findings and preventative recommendations.
  • Excellent networking, liaison and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
