About the Role
As a Technical Business Analyst embedded within the Asset Management technology delivery team, you will act as a critical bridge between Investment, Operations, Risk, and the data and engineering teams. You will be responsible for translating complex front-to-back asset management processes into clear, actionable requirements that enable scalable, compliant, and data-driven technology solutions across the investment lifecycle.
Requirements Elicitation & Analysis- Lead the elicitation, documentation, and validation of business and technical requirements across asset management processes including portfolio management, dealing, valuation, performance, and reporting
- Facilitate workshops and interviews with investment managers, operations team, research team, and compliance stakeholders
- Produce high-quality artefacts including process maps, user stories, use cases, data models, and functional specifications
- Define and validate acceptance criteria in collaboration with Product Owners, developers, and QA teams
- Document and assess system and data integration requirements across portfolio management systems, order management systems (OMS), data vendors, custodians, and reporting platforms
- Analyse end-to-end front-to-back asset management workflows to identify inefficiencies, risk, and opportunities for automation
- Map as-is and to-be processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory, operational, and investment governance requirements
- Identify opportunities to embed AI and advanced analytics into investment and operational workflows and translate these into structured requirements
- Work closely with Product Owners to shape and prioritise backlogs aligned to asset management roadmaps
- Participate actively in sprint ceremonies, refinements, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives
- Support engineering teams throughout delivery by clarifying requirements, data dependencies, and non-functional needs
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology
- Communicate complex technical, data, and process changes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support governance and steer-co processes by providing clear documentation, options, and impact assessments
- Champion best practice in business analysis, agile delivery, and asset management technology
- Actively leverage AI-enabled tools for requirements synthesis, documentation, and analysis
- Contribute to the development of BA standards, templates, and capability maturity across the function
- 5+ years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally within asset management, capital markets, or financial services
- Demonstrable experience working within agile, cross-functional delivery teams
- Strong understanding of asset management concepts including portfolios, instruments, valuations, performance, and investment operations
- Experience working with portfolio management systems, OMS/EMS, market data providers, and reporting tools
- Practical experience using AI or data-driven tooling to improve analysis and solution outcomes
- Solid technical literacy including APIs, data integration patterns, data pipelines, and security concepts
- Advanced ability to produce clear requirements, data-focused documentation, and process models
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort working in complex data environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with investment and operational users
- Proficiency in agile delivery tooling (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops)
- SQL and basic code comprehension are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
- BCS, IIBA (CBAP), or equivalent BA certification is a plus
