Senior IT Support Specialist

Novus Print is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Information Technology Specialist to assist with operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure and systems. The position is based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. Senior IT Support Specialist responsible for providing advanced IT, network and end-user support, maintaining Microsoft server environments, LAN/WAN infrastructure, backups, security and endpoint systems.

• Provide coverage and support for Network operations and Information Technology Department as directed by supervisor.
• Provide technical support for the Business Unit.
• M onitor and maintain Business Unit services.
• Analyze log files and investigate and correct or record errors that are are discovered.
• Monitor Business Unit server and data backup processes.
• Work with systems for endpoint device management. Includes software distribution, updates, patching virus protection, imaging and maintenance routines.
• Assist with network account creation and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain scripts and programs that automate repetitive tasks and data transfer.
• Technical specifications and infrastructure requirements for self- produced technical work and job processes.
• Ensure that Service tickets are closed or escalated promptly.
• Ensure regularly scheduled technical tasks are accomplished on time.
• May be required to travel between Novus sites.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Grade 12
• At least 5 – 8 years as a generalist in an LAN/WAN environment.
• Minimum 5 years work experience supporting end users’ network in a Microsoft Server environment.
• Sound working knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Desktop, Server Operating systems and basic web technologies such as Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services essential.
• Experience in Exchange, O365, Azure and Threat detection advantageous.
• A working knowledge of the following:
  Internet protocols, VPN & Firewalls, encryption and certificates. Hyper-V, VMware or similar virtualization technology, SCVMM is preferable.
• Network troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance, HP Aruba LAN and Wi-Fi essential.
• HP Server and Storage hardware support preferable.
• Support of network print systems and servers, including on-prem and cloud-based document storage.
• Device management software such as SCCM and SCOM preferable.
• Server Backup software, Veeam and Microsoft DPM advantageous.
• IP Telephony, such as Teams or 3CX. Office 365 services including SharePoint.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Required to work after hours when required, i.e. maintenance, standby or projects.
• Ability to communicate clearly with individual computing users on all levels.
• Ability to focus on detailed work for extended periods of time.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver multiple assignments on time, and maintain an efficient/timely daily work schedule.
• The ability to effectively document technical work.
• Must be open to cross training and have flexibility in duties as assigned.
