Overview
Curacel builds AI-powered infrastructure that helps insurers and financial-service businesses across Africa and other emerging markets automate claims, detect fraud, improve customer support, distribute insurance and simplify payments.
The Curacel Future Leaders Programme (Spartan Cohort) is a paid graduate programme for ambitious recent graduates and early-career professionals with 0–3 years of experience. Spartans work on live business projects, receive structured mentorship, build practical skills and complete a capstone project designed to deliver measurable business impact.
Participants gain hands-on experience within selected functions while developing the ownership, judgement and pace required to succeed in a fast-growing company. Spartans contribute fresh thinking, tackle real operational and customer problems, and help Curacel make insurance and financial services work better across emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to high-impact projects within your assigned team:
Engineering, Product, AI Operations, Commercials, Health Operations, Finance, or People Operations - Take ownership of assigned work streams, solve problems proactively and deliver results aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate across teams to design, build and launch products, services and process improvements.
- Engage with customers, partners and internal stakeholders, where relevant, to gather requirements, understand problems and incorporate feedback.
- Use Curacel’s tools and processes to analyse data, generate actionable insights and support decision-making.
- Participate actively in Curacel’s structured AI learning programme and complete assigned learning activities.
- Learn to use approved AI tools responsibly for research, analysis, problem-solving, workflow automation and clearer decision-making.
- Apply AI skills to live team projects and identify practical use cases that improve speed, quality or customer outcomes.
- Share relevant AI learnings, experiments and use cases with peers while following Curacel’s data-security, confidentiality and responsible-use standards.
- Participate in regular training sessions, mentorship meetings and performance reviews.
- Complete and present a capstone project to Curacel leadership, demonstrating measurable business impact.
- Embody Curacel’s PRESS values in daily work and interactions.
- Active Participations in all company activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in any discipline from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering ( For interest in engineering and AI ops placement) from an accredited institution.
- 0–3 years of professional experience, including internships, NYSC, volunteer work or relevant freelance experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with evidence of tackling challenging problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in distributed, multicultural teams.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly, adapt to a fast-moving environment and take initiative.
- Curiosity about technology-driven change in insurance, fintech, healthcare or related fields.
- Relevant internship, project or coursework experience in technology, finance, consulting, sales, marketing, operations or a startup environment.
- Familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar tools for research, analysis, content creation, coding or workflow support.
- Evidence of using AI, automation or no-code tools in an academic, personal, volunteer or professional project.
- Basic understanding of prompt design, data analysis, workflow automation or responsible AI use.
- Strong interest in learning how AI can improve insurance, fintech, healthcare and business operations.
- Technical proficiency relevant to your department of interest, such as Excel, SQL, Python, JavaScript or no-code tools
- Demonstrated leadership or active participation in student organisations, community initiatives or entrepreneurial ventures.
- Knowledge of the African insurance, fintech or healthtech landscape, or experience working in emerging markets.
