About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Specialist to join their expanding IT department based in Cape Town . This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the company's information systems. You will be responsible for implementing security controls, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in cybersecurity and a proactive approach to threat mitigation.

You will work closely with IT teams to strengthen the organization’s security posture and protect against evolving cyber threats.

• Implement and manage security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.
• Conduct security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in systems and applications.
• Investigate and resolve security incidents, documenting findings and remediation steps.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for suspicious activities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy laws and industry standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in an information security role.
• Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint security software.
• Knowledge of network security principles and cloud security best practices.
