Technical Manager; Managed Service Provider

Technical Manager – IT Managed Services (MSP) – Maitland, Cape Town (On-Site)

We’re looking for a hands‑on Technical Manager to lead the full technical operations of a Managed Services environment, ensuring secure, stable, and high‑performing client infrastructures while guiding and developing a high‑calibre technical team.

Role Type: Technical Leadership / MSP Operations

Level: Senior / Management (Both Tech and People Management)

• Lead and manage end‑to‑end technical operations across support, engineering, infrastructure, and projects
• Manage and mentor a technical team (L1–L3), driving accountability, performance, and growth
• Work closely with the CEO on technical standards, solution architecture, and major decisions
• Oversee service delivery, ensuring SLA adherence and high‑quality client outcomes
• Own escalation management, root‑cause analysis, and long‑term remediation
• Drive project delivery (migrations, upgrades, cloud transitions, office moves)
• Build and enforce SOPs, documentation, and repeatable operational processes
• Own infrastructure planning, risk reduction, and proactive improvement initiatives
• Maintain and mature MSP tooling (Zoho Desk, Endpoint Central, monitoring, project tools)

• 5–7+ years’ experience in an IT Managed Services (MSP) environment
• Proven experience leading and developing technical teams (people manager)
• Strong hands‑on capability with Microsoft 365 and core infrastructure
• Solid networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls – Forti Gate ideal)
• Experience managing service desks, SLAs, and escalation workflows
• Strong project delivery experience (planning, scoping, execution)
• Process‑driven mindset with a focus on SOPs, standards, and documentation
• Calm, confident leader with excellent communication skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business language
• Based in Cape Town with willingness to travel to client sites
