Data Protection Officer; DPO

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Data Protection Officer (DPO) to oversee their data privacy strategy and compliance efforts in Kimberley . This pivotal role involves ensuring adherence to data protection laws, such as POPIA, and safeguarding personal data processed by the organization. You will be responsible for advising on data protection impact assessments, managing data subject rights, and fostering a culture of data privacy awareness throughout the company, playing a key role in maintaining customer trust and regulatory compliance.

• Act as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and data subjects.
• Monitor compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations (e.g., POPIA).
• Advise on and oversee data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
• Develop and implement data protection policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Manage and investigate data breaches, ensuring timely notification and resolution.
• Maintain records of data processing activities and advise on data governance.

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data protection, privacy law, or compliance roles.
• In-depth knowledge of POPIA and other relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
• Experience conducting DPIAs and managing data subject requests.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or relevant legal qualifications is highly desirable.
