Commercial Underwriter – RBS Insurance Brokers

We are currently accepting applications for the Commercial Underwriter role. The recruitment team is on a short festive season break, and applications will be reviewed after the new year.

Role Purpose
Provide effective and efficient underwriting services for commercial clients, support business strategy by retaining existing clients and securing new business, and ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory frameworks and quality assurance processes while delivering a high‑quality client experience.

• Actively minimize cancellations and contribute to meeting client retention targets.
• Support the company’s financial goals by applying sound underwriting decisions and managing risks effectively.

• Maintain professional, accurate and timely communication with clients, account executives and insurers.
• Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships and ensure client satisfaction targets are consistently achieved.

• Manage end‑to‑end underwriting for new business, renewals, endorsements and re‑broke policies, as well as handle cancellations.
• Address general inquiries, assess cover and product requirements, rate policies and maintain accurate records.
• Adhere to company quality standards, regulatory frameworks and internal mandates while contributing to team projects and maintaining productivity targets.

• Pursue continuous self‑development and achieve personal development objectives.
• Share knowledge with the team and ensure that productivity and quality assurance standards are consistently met.

• RE5 certification.
• FAIS compliant (credits and/or full qualification).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

• Minimum 3 years as a Commercial Lines Underwriter managing medium to large commercial accounts.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience at a short‑term insurance brokerage.
