The Expeditor will ensure timely, quality delivery of purchased goods and services by tracking orders, communicating with suppliers, resolving delays, and verifying shipments, to ensure materials and services arrive on time and to minimise supply disruptions and support operational continuity.
The position reports to the Procurement Operations Manager and is part of the Procurement team at Astron Energy which is responsible for procurement of all goods and services to support its operations in South Africa and Botswana.
This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.
** Key*
* ** Responsibilities**:
* Monitor the progress of orders from placement to delivery, including manufacturing and shipping
* Liaise with suppliers to confirm orders, delivery dates and adherence to specifications.
* Address and resolve delays, incorrect shipments, or quality problems quickly and co-ordinate corrective actions.
* Work with warehouses to ensure materials are available when needed, preventing stockouts
* Keep project managers and stakeholders updated on delivery status and potential risks
* Support the buying team with closing out of purchase order OSD’s (overage, shortage, damage) and incorrect orders with suppliers
* Verify that delivered items meet required quality standards and specifications.
* Support recovery plans for late or disrupted deliveries
* Maintain and activley manage tracking report for oustanding purchase orders, highlighting on-time, critical, and at-risk orders.
* Ensure compliance with all Astron Energy policies, practices and standards
* Request and maintain accurate records to support audits or inspections as required

* Maintain open communication with suppliers to convey expectations and maintain quality and service levels.
* Identify any potential risks in supplier status or behaviors that could impact the supply chain.

* Identify opportunities for simple efficiency or value creation.

** Qualifications &

Experience:

Qualifications:

** Diploma/Advanced certificate in supply chain management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
*
* Work Experience:

** A minimum of 3 years of expediting experience

Proven experience tracking purchase orders, deliveries, and supplier commitments.

Understanding of Incoterms and shipping processes

Skills:

** MS Office Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong understanding of purchase order lifecycle and lead-time management

Procurement systems:
Knowledge of ERP systems

Supplier and Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Strong skills in managing supplier relationships to drive performance and collaboration and good communication and organizational skills to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
