The Role
The Inventory Management Planner is a strategic business partner reporting to the Merchandise Planning & Inventory Lead and is responsible for leading end-to-end inventory management across South Africa's Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), Retail, Wholesale and Omnichannel channels. The role ensures optimal inventory availability, productivity and flow while aligning commercial priorities with supply capabilities. The Inventory Management Planner is accountable for balancing demand, supply, service levels and working capital through effective inventory planning, allocation, risk management and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Lead end-to-end inventory management across DTC, Retail, Wholesale and Omnichannel businesses.Develop and execute inventory strategies aligned to financial, sales and customer service objectives.Own inventory health, inventory turns, weeks of supply, availability and inventory productivity.Drive inventory visibility and alignment across commercial and supply chain partners.Provide monthly inventory forecasts, risk assessments and actionable recommendations.Support M , Q , S&OP and financial planning processes.Manage Supply and Demand Optimally
Lead demand and supply reconciliation activities with commercial and supply planning stakeholders.Review supply risks and develop mitigation plans for late deliveries, cancellations and shortages.Partner with Global Supply Planning, Global Sourcing and Logistics teams to optimize inventory flow.Manage inbound visibility, purchase order tracking and inventory availability reporting.Drive channel allocation strategies to maximize sales, margin and service levels.Recommend inventory prioritization actions supporting key product launches and commercial initiatives.Support Forecasting and Planning Activity
Collaborate with Merchandise Planning, Sales, Retail and DTC teams to align inventory plans with demand.Provide scenario analysis and insights supporting business decision making.Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and planning effectiveness.Coordinate cross-functional execution of supply, allocation and inventory actions.Monitor key inventory metrics and communicate risks and opportunities.Excess and Obsolete Management
Develop and execute inventory exit and liquidation strategies.Partner with Finance and Commercial teams to reduce ageing inventory.Drive markdown, promotion and wholesale clearance initiatives.Support achievement of inventory productivity and working capital targets.Competency Profile
Strong analytical capability.Stakeholder managementCommercial acumenSupply chain planning knowledge, cross-functional collaboration and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, Logistics or related field.Minimum 5–7 years' experience in inventory management, supply planning, or retail supply chain.Strong understanding of DTC, Retail and Wholesale business models.Advanced Excel, SAP and analytical skills preferred.Experience working with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams is essential.Should you meet all the above requirements and wish to apply for the vacancy, please apply at
