Technical Buyer

Responsibilities & Duties

• Purchase goods, materials, components, and services in line with cost, quality, lead‑time, and SHE protocols.
• Provide procurement support to the client’s offices (Paarl and Hermanus).
• Manage Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes and supplier selection.
• Negotiate contracts to achieve savings and ensure best total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Ensure compliance with Purchase Requisition s and Vendor Control procedures.
• Prepare and process compliant purchase orders within ERP systems (LATIS/SAP By‑Design).
• Source products/services and evaluate new vendors.
• Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and competitor strategies.
• Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure adherence to Group Contracts Management procedures.
• Communicate supply issues, delays, or risks to stakeholders.
• File and distribute procurement documentation for easy access and compliance.
• Meet departmental savings plans and KPIs.
• Uphold company policies, ISO 9001 standards, and confidentiality requirements.
• Promote a positive, professional company image and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management (NQF6 or higher).
• Professional membership with CIPS (advantageous).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Buying/Procurement.
• Strong computer literacy (Google Sheets/Excel, Google Docs/Word) with speed and accuracy.
• ERP system proficiency (Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP preferred).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• High integrity, professionalism, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
