As part of its expanding African operations, the company is seeking an experienced Contract Demand Planner S&OPto join the Supply Chain team on a 2-year contract.
PositionPurpose:
The Contract Demand Planner S&OP will be responsible for all forecasting activities related to assigned brands and product categories. This role involves developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts, incorporating business intelligence and insights from Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customers, and Supply Chain teams.
The successful candidate will serve as the key Supply Chain liaison to the commercial organisation and play a critical role in the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:Demand Planning
- Develop and maintain a rolling demand forecast of 12 to 18 months for assigned markets and product categories.
- Gather market intelligence from distributors, customers, and commercial teams to support future forecasting.
- Reconcile sales forecasts against financial forecasts to ensure alignment and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial teams to ensure timely visibility of promotions, launches, initiatives, and demand drivers.
- Prepare and facilitate monthly Demand Review meetings.
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks and opportunities during the Sales & Operations Planning cycle.
- Partner with Customer Service teams to ensure orders are processed and delivered within agreed timelines.
- Proactively identify and elevate order-related challenges where necessary.
- Support the resolution of customer service issues through effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Manage short-term demand opportunities and forecast adjustments based on emerging business requirements and market intelligence.
- Participate in regular Supply Review meetings to evaluate short- and medium-term supply risks.
- Escalate significant supply constraints and risks through the appropriate S&OP governance processes.
- Monitor and analyse forecast accuracy and service level performance, conducting root cause analyses where required.
- Ensure alignment between forecasting systems and global planning submissions.
- Provide input into monthly and quarterly KPI reviews with regional and global planning teams.
- Review and action forecast exceptions and system alerts on a regular basis.
- Prepare weekly demand and order status updates for commercial stakeholders and distributor partners.
Education
- Relevant Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Commerce, Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Demand Planning and/or Supply Planning.
- Experience with in the FMCG, Beauty, Cosmetics, Consumer Goods, or related industries would be advantageous.
- Exposure to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
- Experience working within a distributor-led business model.
- Exposure to global or multinational supply chain environments will be beneficial.
