About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer specializing in Raw Materials to join their established procurement department in Cape Town . This critical role involves managing the end-to-end procurement cycle for all raw materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery to support manufacturing operations. You will be instrumental in developing sourcing strategies, fostering strong supplier partnerships, and mitigating supply chain risks.

The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to drive significant cost savings and contribute to the company's competitive advantage in the market. This is an on-site position requiring full dedication to the office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the sourcing and purchasing of all raw materials , ensuring consistent quality and supply.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and pricing agreements with key global and local suppliers.
  • Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance to optimize purchasing strategies.
  • Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and finance departments to align procurement activities with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards in procurement decisions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Senior Buyer or equivalent purchasing role, with a focus on raw materials.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value contracts and achieving significant cost reductions.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain dynamics, global sourcing, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
