To perform repairs and maintenance on moulds and manufacture and repair engineering components and other related items.

2. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position (please provide a short description under each heading/output)

1. Operate Toolroom & Related Equipment:

Operate all Toolroom machinery in an efficient, cost effective and safe way.

Use Toolroom machinery in the production and maintenance of: o Moulds. o Related components. o Other parts required by the company.

2. Manufacture and Repair of Moulds and Related Components:

Manufacture and repair moulds and related componentry with accuracy and precision from interpreted drawings.

Assist and provide input on mould design and manufacturing.

Carry out fault finding and trouble – shooting on moulds and related componentry. Liaise with Management regarding any discrepancies in production or in

performing allocated tasks.

Set up and work to schedules that prioritize company commitments as determined by Management.

Keep Toolroom equipment, work spaces and facilities neat, organized, healthy and safe at all times.

Assess the condition of tooling returning from production and trigger works orders as needed.

3. Reporting and Administration:

Report as per performance standard and deadline.

Be responsible for the machine shop and its content.

Keep stock of various machining and cutting tools and maintain in a good functioning order.

4. Mentor:

Train and mentor Tool, Jig & Die apprentices. 5. Health and Safety

Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to health and safety requirements.

Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas).

Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues.

Report any accidents, incidents and near misses. 6. Quality

Apply the company’s quality principles and standards. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

7. Food Safety System Certification (FSSC)

Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should: o Apply the site’s food safety principles and standards. o Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager. o Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation

to the Company’s FSMS (Food Safety Management System). 8. Self-development and Growth

3. JOB EVALUATION CRITERIA

A) Knowledge and Skills

Secondary Education Grade 12

Tertiary Education (including Diplomas, Certificates and Degrees)

Trade Test Tool Jig and Die Maker (MERSETA) Minimum N2

Experience Minimum 10-15 years experience or more within the manufacturing industry in the position of Toolmaker and with extensive knowledge of Toolroom Equipment.
