An exciting new opportunity has opened up at Pyrotec Pack Media Cape Town. Pyrotec Pack Media develops and manufactures innovative on-pack informational and promotional label and leaflet solutions that help customers take their packaging to the next level. With state-of-the-art digital and litho printing technology, we deliver fast turnaround times, consistent print quality, and enhanced packaging value.
We are looking for an Estimating Intern to support the Estimating Department with quote preparation, data capturing, supplier price coordination, and internal production-related tasks. The ideal candidate will be mathematically strong, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in the printing and production environment.
Please note this is a junior intern position with a one (1) year contract. During the contract period, Pyrotec will also contribute to the successful candidate’s development through training aligned to cost estimating, printing processes, and production workflows.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 (Matric)
- Computer literate (MS Office essential; good Excel ability beneficial)
- Excellent mathematical ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Interest in the printing/production industry (beneficial)
- Excellent attendance
Duties:
- Assist with reviewing and analysing customer requests to prepare quotations
- Capture data to calculate cost estimates, including materials, labour and production variables
- Request, track, and record supplier pricing for estimating purposes
- Liaise with the Production Team to understand production capabilities and processes
- Assist in preparing quote revisions when specifications change
- Support job cost analysis to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
- Assist with identifying potential new materials or suppliers for better quality or cost improvements
- Ensure accurate administration, organisation, and storage of estimating documentation
- Assist with internal job processing tasks when required
- Provide general support to the Estimating Department and perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by management
