About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Chemist to join their operations team in Cape Town . This role is crucial for overseeing and managing the day-to-day chemical production processes, ensuring product quality, consistency, and adherence to stringent safety and environmental standards. You will work closely with the production manager and laboratory staff to maintain optimal performance of chemical manufacturing equipment and contribute to the development of new formulations.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of industrial chemistry and a commitment to operational excellence, operating within a collaborative environment that values scientific rigor and continuous improvement in the picturesque setting of the Western Cape.
- Monitor and control chemical reactions and processes to ensure product specifications are met.
- Perform quality control tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Maintain detailed records of production batches, test results, and process parameters.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and waste.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with R&D on process validation and scale-up activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience in a chemical production or quality control environment.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory equipment.
- Solid understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and safety protocols.
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in Cape Town .
