Our client is an established and growing company based in Cape Town, specialising in the design and supply of corporate office environments, furniture and related workplace solutions. They are looking for an experienced and technically minded Industrial CAD Technician to join their team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in translating customer and design requirements into accurate technical drawings and production documentation, while supporting the Sales, Design and Manufacturing teams.

• Create, develop and modify detailed technical drawings using CAD software.
• Produce new drawings based on customer requirements, product specifications and design concepts.
• Implement drawing revisions and engineering or manufacturing changes.
• Ensure drawings meet company standards, technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate drawing registers, revisions and technical records.
• Assist with the development of new products and practical design solutions.
• Interpret architectural, interior design and technical information relating to corporate office environments.

• Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Sales Team.
• Assist with evaluating customer requirements and technical specifications.
• Review specifications and technical information for accuracy and completeness.
• Interpret customer requirements and project documentation.
• Assist with developing practical technical solutions for corporate office design and supply projects.
• Respond to technical queries and provide support throughout the sales and production process.

• Provide technical support to the manufacturing and production teams.
• Assist in identifying and resolving drawing, design and production-related issues.
• Generate and maintain CNC programmes where required.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure products can be manufactured accurately and efficiently.
• Assist in improving production efficiency through accurate drawings and technical documentation.
• Identify potential manufacturing issues and assist with implementing practical solutions.

• Prepare, review and maintain comprehensive production packs.
• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure drawings, specifications and production documentation are current and correctly controlled.
• Maintain revision histories and drawing registers.
• Ensure superseded documentation is properly managed.
• Maintain accurate technical records in line with company procedures and quality standards.

• Relevant qualification in CAD, Mechanical Design, Engineering Drafting, Industrial Design or a related field.
• Previous experience as a CAD Technician, CAD Draughtsman or similar technical design professional.
• Experience with in a manufacturing, furniture, office fit-out or industrial environment would be advantageous.
• Strong proficiency in relevant CAD software.
• Experience producing detailed technical and production drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC manufacturing and programming would be advantageous.
• Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production documentation.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Strong understanding of drawing standards, revisions and document control.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
