Our client, a non-profit organization focused on rural development and community upliftment, is seeking an energetic and dedicated Community Mobilizer to work within the Upington area. This role is crucial for engaging local communities, raising awareness about development initiatives, and fostering active participation in projects aimed at improving living standards. You will be responsible for organizing community meetings, building trust with residents, and facilitating the implementation of grassroots projects.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a natural leader, and deeply committed to empowering rural communities, with a comprehensive understanding of the socio-economic dynamics and specific needs of the Northern Cape region.
- Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
- Identify community needs and priorities, and facilitate community-led action planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and local stakeholders.
- Encourage and facilitate community participation in project activities and decision-making processes.
- Provide basic training and support to community groups and local committees.
- Monitor community engagement levels and report on project progress and challenges.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community development, social work, or a related field.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing community events and meetings.
- Understanding of rural development principles and participatory approaches.
- Knowledge of the local context and challenges in the Upington and wider Northern Cape areas is essential.
