The Allergy and Immunology Unit at the UCT Lung Institute is looking for a compassionate and clinically skilled Registered Clinic Nurse to join a specialised team dedicated to improving the lives of patients living with allergic and immune-related conditions.
Through advanced diagnostics, innovative treatments, and patient-centred care, the unit provides specialised clinical and laboratory services that help patients better understand and manage their conditions.
What you bring:- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing
- Previous phlebotomy experience
- 2–5 years' clinical experience in a private practice, clinic, or community healthcare setting
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Fluency in English and a second language (Afrikaans and/or isi Xhosa)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Diagnostic testing experience
- Experience with in Allergy, Immunology, Dermatology, Respiratory, or Specialist Healthcare environments
- Experience with patient education and long-term treatment support
- Performing clinical assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, lung function testing, skin prick testing, and other diagnostic procedures
- Administering immunotherapy treatments and allergy desensitisation therapies
- Administering bee venom immunotherapy and monitoring patients throughout treatment
- Performing phlebotomy procedures and peripheral IV insertions
- Preparing and managing laboratory specimens for transportation and testing
- Maintaining accurate patient records, laboratory results, and clinical documentation
- Assisting clinicians with interpretation, reporting, and communication of allergy-related results
- Responding to patient queries and supporting ongoing patient care
- Monitoring clinic stock levels and coordinating consumable orders
- Supporting patients through education and treatment planning
Your clinical expertise will help patients better understand, manage, and improve their allergic and immune-related conditions through specialised, evidence-based care.
Role Information:- Fixed Term Contract (6-12 Months)
- Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
- Based at UCTLI in Observatory,
