Job Description

Health & Safety Specialist – Renewable Energy Projects

A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to support project and operational teams in ensuring full compliance with OHS legislation, project standards, and HSE best practices.

This role will play a key part in maintaining a strong safety culture across construction and operational environments, ensuring all contractors and stakeholders meet required compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with OHS Act and applicable regulations across all projects
  • Review and approve contractor Health & Safety Plans and Files
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor legal compliance and appointments
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety file reviews
  • Track and report incidents, deviations, and non-compliance
  • Compile and manage weekly and monthly HSE reports and statistics
  • Ensure all personnel meet fitness, training, and certification requirements
  • Support risk assessments, method statements, and incident investigations
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records, and audit trails
  • Coordinate safety meetings and track action items to close-out
  • Support PPE management and HSE training initiatives
  • Assist with compliance audits across construction, O&M, and head office
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Proven experience in construction or renewable energy environments
  • Strong understanding of South African OHS Act (Act 85 of 1993)
  • Experience with risk assessments and incident investigations
