Job Overview

The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function for GSK’s Cape Town manufacturing site, ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, including WHO, FDA, and EMA guidelines. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that guarantee product safety, efficacy, and consistency. This position plays a critical role in supporting GSK’s strategic objectives, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of quality excellence across all manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with GMP, ISO, and corporate standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and corrective actions.
  • Oversee batch release processes, reviewing manufacturing records, test results, and deviation reports.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and R&D teams to embed quality by design principles.
  • Manage a team of QA specialists, providing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, and risk‑based approaches.
  • Ensure effective change control management and impact assessments for all process changes.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory changes and communicate implications to stakeholders.
Required Skills
  • Deep understanding of GMP, GXP, and regulatory compliance for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
  • Experience with electronic batch record systems and quality software tools.
  • Project management expertise, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Black Belt are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing quality assurance, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in large‑scale commercial production environments and exposure to global regulatory inspections are essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, pension contributions, and comprehensive health benefits.
