About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Research Scientist specializing in Biotechnology to spearhead critical research initiatives in Cape Town. You will lead a dedicated team of scientists, guiding them in the design and execution of groundbreaking experiments aimed at developing novel therapeutic solutions and advancing biological understanding. This role is central to driving innovation and requires a blend of deep scientific expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of medical science within a collaborative, state-of-the-art research facility.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of research scientists, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
- Design and oversee complex experimental protocols in areas such as gene editing, molecular biology, and drug discovery.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to internal stakeholders and at scientific conferences.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure the successful completion of research objectives.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the R&D department, identifying new research opportunities and technological advancements.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or a related life sciences field.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in the biotechnology sector, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Extensive hands-on experience with techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9, next-generation sequencing, and protein expression analysis.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in preclinical research.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for leading a scientific team in Cape Town.
