Our client is seeking a visionary Principal Investigator to lead their cutting-edge Immunology Research division based in Cape Town . This senior role is responsible for setting the scientific direction, leading independent research projects, and fostering a culture of discovery and collaboration within the department. You will be at the forefront of exploring immune system mechanisms, developing novel immunotherapies, and publishing impactful findings in top-tier scientific journals, contributing significantly to advancing human health.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead innovative research programs focused on complex immunological questions and therapeutic targets.
- Secure external funding through grant applications and manage research budgets effectively.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of post-doctoral fellows, research associates, and technicians.
- Author high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international forums.
- Establish and maintain collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners.
- Ensure compliance with all ethical, regulatory, and safety standards within the research laboratory.
- M.D. or Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- A distinguished publication record in leading immunology journals.
- Proven success in obtaining and managing substantial research grants.
- Extensive experience in leading independent research teams and managing laboratory operations.
- Expertise in a broad range of immunological techniques, including flow cytometry, cytokine analysis, and animal models.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
