An established restaurant group at the V&A Waterfront is looking for a hands-on, service-driven Front of House (FOH) Manager to lead daily floor operations in a high-volume environment. You’ll be responsible for guest experience, team leadership, service standards, and smooth day-to-day running of the restaurant.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily FOH operations (open/close, shift flow, floor plans, reservations/walk-ins)
- Drive exceptional guest experience: service standards, complaint handling, table touches, and recovery
- Lead, train, and motivate FOH staff (waiters, runners, hosts, bartenders) to meet performance and service targets
- Ensure strong communication between FOH and BOH to maintain speed, accuracy, and quality
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, grooming, and professional conduct across the FOH team
- Manage staffing: rosters, shift allocations, leave planning, and on-the-floor coverage
- Oversee admin and controls: cash-ups, voids/discounts, daily reports, and basic KPI tracking
- Support ordering, stock control, and receiving for FOH items (beverages, consumables, bar/restaurant supplies)
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene, liquor service standards, and company policies
- Maintain venue presentation: cleanliness, ambience, music, lighting, and overall readiness for service
- Work closely with senior management to implement promotions, upselling initiatives, and service improvements
- Pre-shift briefings and post-shift debriefs
- Monitor service times and guest feedback during peak periods
- Handle escalations calmly and professionally
- Coach staff on upselling, menu knowledge, and service etiquette
- Coordinate bookings, special requests, and large tables/functions
- Complete daily checklists and operational reporting
Position Requirements
High School,
3+ Years

- Minimum 2 years’ FOH management experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Proven leadership and staff management ability
- Strong operational and administrative skills (ordering, stock control, daily controls)
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Working rights in South Africa
- Already based in Cape Town
