The Retail Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily operations, ensuring sales goals are achieved, expenses are well controlled, and outstanding customer service is consistently provided. This role plays a key part in driving store performance and maintaining operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Support daily store operations, ensuring effective trading, customer assistance, and resolution of enquiries, complaints, and special orders.
- Act as deputy in the Store Manager's absence, coordinating staff coverage and overseeing inventory management, stock takes, and deliveries.
- Drive sales through product promotion, customer advice, and maintaining strong product knowledge via training and self-learning.
- Implement merchandising, store layout, and local marketing activities (e.g., cookery demonstrations, special events) to maximise sales and customer satisfaction.
- Handle transactions efficiently, follow cash-handling procedures, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a retail or customer-focused environment, including line management responsibilities.
- Proven track record of driving sales performance and delivering high standards of customer service.
- Experience working with a premium or quality retail brand.
- Familiarity with Le Creuset products, either as a customer or through experience with a similar brand.
- Matric qualification or higher.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on maintaining brand and operational standards.
- Confident in selling and up-selling techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (intermediate level).
- Able to work retail trading hours (usual retail trading hours are from Monday to Sunday with occasional late evenings and public holidays).
