About the Organisation and the Role

Giftime is a community gift shop based at Astra Centre in Gardens. The gift service is a fund‑raising venture, offering beautifully presented gifts for all occasions. Many of the products in the gift store are manufactured at Astra’s Jewish Sheltered Employment Centre. We are looking for a retail savvy self‑starter to support the Store Manager with the running of Giftime, including the daily management of stock, staff and customers, and bringing innovation to the store.

Main

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sales and Merchandising
  • Point of Sale
  • Ensure suitable, relevant stock for special occasions, milestones and holidays (Jewish and non‑Jewish)
  • Ensure shelves are stocked with merchandise.
  • Ensure the store is clean and neat, with products merchandised in an attractive way
  • Research and engage with new and existing suppliers.
  • Customer service
  • Assisting customer in a friendly and informative manner
  • Offer gift wrapping and packaging of parcels for delivery.
  • Stock control & financial admin
  • Invoicing
  • Capturing stock
  • End of year stocktake
  • Liaise & Motivate volunteers
Required Skills & Experience
  • Work experience and industry exposure
  • At least 3‑5 years’ retail experience, advantageous
  • A flair for building a range and buying merchandise
  • Knowledge of Judaism and Judaica will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate well with a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to manage difficult situations and personalities in a calm and rational manner
  • Ability to effectively respond to queries and deal with complaints
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills
  • A confident team collaborator who is self‑driven and highly organised
  • Proactive with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Efficient and able to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Community‑mindful individual, affiliated with one or more organisations within the Jewish community
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new computer systems and programs quickly and easily
