Internal Sales & Customer Service
- Answer incoming calls and convert customer enquiries into sales opportunities.
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Prepare and issue quotations via telephone and email.
- Follow up on all quotations to maximise sales conversions.
- Receive, process and monitor sales orders using the relevant systems.
- Maintain accurate records of customer enquiries, quotations and orders.
- Provide product information and assist customers with their requirements.
- Process sales orders and maintain accurate records on Syspro.
- Source standard and non-standard stock from approved suppliers.
- Monitor back orders daily and release invoices for delivery when appropriate.
- Expedite orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely fulfilment.
- Update customer discount structures on Syspro.
- Liaise with the Warehouse Manager regarding stock availability and deliveries.
- Coordinate with the relevant external sales representative on customer orders.
- Work closely with external sales representatives to support sales activities.
- Provide qualified leads and identify opportunities for new business.
- Accompany external sales representatives on customer visits when required.
- Maintain regular communication with the external sales team to ensure excellent customer service and effective order coordination.
- Perform general office and sales administration duties.
- Ensure customer enquiries and orders are captured and monitored through an effective system.
- Follow established credit procedures and take appropriate steps to minimise customer credit exposure.
- Assist with resolving account-related queries and support efficient sales administration.
- At least 3 years' experience within the steel and tube industry, preferably in a sales-related role.
- Relevant product knowledge within the steel and tube industry.
- Syspro experience would be advantageous.
- Strong sales ability and a results-driven approach.
- Confident personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and administrative abilities.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and orders in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and following up on outstanding quotations and orders.
- Must reside in Cape Town or the surrounding areas, as relocation is not being considered.
