Core Purpose of the roleAs the Private Security Services Site Manager at an aviation site (airport, hangar, cargo terminal) you will oversee the overall management of the security operations for our client, ensuring strict compliance with aviation regulations such as Part 108 or ICAO standards, while managing a team of security personnel. This role protects all personnel, cargo, and aircraft, maintaining high‑security standards while facilitating safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities And Duties- Operational Leadership:
Manage daily security operations, which could include passenger/baggage/cargo screening, access control, and perimeter security, depending on whether your team is “Land side” or “Air side”. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with national aviation security regulations, airport operating procedures, and relevant legislation (e.g., PSIRA in SA, TSA/FAA in US). - Personnel Management:
Supervise, direct, mentor, and schedule security staff, including managing performance, conducting briefings, and ensuring adherence to Post Orders. - Incident Management:
Respond to and investigate security breaches, emergencies, and incidents, implementing corrective actions. - Client Relations & Communication:
Serve as the main point of contact for the client, law enforcement and other stakeholders. - Risk Mitigation & Audits:
Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities. - Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure security equipment and uniforms meet all requirements as specified on the company policies and the client SLA. - Training:
Ensure all security personnel complete compulsory Human Rights, Environmental, and Sustainability training.
- Experience:
2 – 5 years physical guarding security management experience, with at least 2 years at a NKP site. - Leadership & Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills to manage teams, resolve conflicts, and communicate with high‑profile stakeholders. - Technical Literacy:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and security management software. - Background Check:
Ability to pass comprehensive background checks to obtain airport security clearance. - Regulatory Knowledge:
In‑depth knowledge of aviation security protocols, such as ICAO Annex 17 or local civil aviation security programmes. - Environment:
Ability to work in a high‑pressure, regulated, and fast‑paced environment. - Appearance:
Professional appearance is essential.
- PSIRA Grade A
- Minimum of NQF level 4 or SAQA equivalent
- Valid firearm competency certificate
- Valid AVSEC level 3 certificate
- Valid Part 92 (dangerous goods) aviation certificate
- Valid Part 109 and Part 110 civil aviation certificates
- Valid NKP training certificate
- Valid AVSEC level 2 certificate
- Valid NKP regulation 16 certificate training certificate
- Driver’s license will be an added advantage.
