Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Our product gives IT managers insight into how their users are experiencing Wi‑Fi, network, and application performance, and helps them fix problems before users complain. We design all our hardware and software in Cape Town, using Python, React, Rust, Postgres, Click House, AWS services, etc. The role focuses on developing a primarily Rust codebase with some Type Script that runs on end‑user devices and on edge devices in the network.

You will develop and maintain the Rust codebase that runs as a desktop agent, a Linux service on access points, and integrates with evolving cloud services. You will also create testing methods to ensure code safety and stability for deployment to large fleets of devices.

• Design and develop new features and enhancements for the software agent.
• Write and execute complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation in a cross‑platform environment.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

• Practical experience programming in Rust or C/C++.
• Ability to develop clearly written, robust, and carefully architected code.
• Good understanding of basic computer networking (TCP/IP knowledge is a bonus).
• Experience developing applications that run natively on a PC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
