Ninety One is an equal opportunities employer. Our imperative is to attract and retain the best talent by providing a corporate environment where people from varying backgrounds can develop professionally and build a rewarding career.

About the team

Our team’s chief mandate is to provide technical solutions for the various operations teams at Ninety One. Each member of our team is involved in consulting with stakeholders and other teams, designing, implementing, and supporting these solutions.

We need a software engineer with a passion for engaging with people and making their jobs easier through technology. The role will be embedded in a multi-disciplinary and self-organising agile software engineering team but day-to-day priorities and delivery direction come from the CRIMS technology team, whose focus is on the systems and workflows that underpin the trading lifecycle.

You will build, test, and maintain solutions across the CRIMS platform and its surrounding data and integration landscape, reducing manual and operational overhead through automation and tooling.

You'll play a direct role in the organisation's journey to transform how we work with AI - building the tooling and automation that helps our team lead by example.

In this role you will
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations and extensions around the Charles River platform (CRIMS), including APIs, data feeds, and workflow automation
  • Support Databricks/Azure-based data pipeline work
  • Partner with the CRIMS technology team to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Develop and support systems using C# .NET and MS SQL
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Support and enhance Azure-hosted services (e.g. Function Apps, App Services)
  • Review code via Pull Requests
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and technical planning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, including data quality defects and integration failures
You should consider applying if you have
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C# .NET and object-oriented design principles
  • Production experience with RDBMS e.g. SQL Server, Oracle etc
  • Understanding of API-based integration patterns (REST, GraphQL, or similar)
  • Experience working in the Finance Industry
  • Experience with Charles River IMS (CRIMS) or other order management systems (Aladdin, thinkFolio etc) advantageous
  • Python development and Cloud platform development experience desirable
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Experience with Agentic Engineering processes
Some of the attributes we look for in a person are
  • Strong written and verbal communication - able to explain technical detail to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • The ability to ‘approach and own’ and continuously look for opportunities to develop
  • A strong belief in doing the right thing
  • A client focused and collaborative approach
  • Intellectual curiosity
