Senior Automotive Embedded Software Engineer

Our client, a leader in automotive innovation, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Embedded Software Engineer to join their dedicated team in Cape Town, Western Cape . This role is crucial for the development of sophisticated software solutions that power modern vehicles, focusing on areas such as ADAS, infotainment, or powertrain control. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and C/C++ programming within an automotive context.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for automotive control units and ECUs.
• Implement software following stringent automotive standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, MISRA C/C++).
• Develop and integrate software components for complex automotive systems, such as ADAS, infotainment, powertrain control, or body electronics.
• Perform software debugging, analysis, and optimization using advanced tools and techniques.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system engineers, and validation teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Write clear, concise, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality and robustness.
• Contribute to the definition of software architecture and design patterns.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in embedded software development, with a significant focus on the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages for embedded systems.
• Strong experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, QNX, or similar.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Experience with automotive software development processes and standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ISO 26262).
• Proficiency in debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in Cape Town, Western Cape .
