Role Overview

We are seeking a mid-level Logistics Manager with strong import and export experience, including bonded warehouse operations, to manage and coordinate our international and local logistics processes.

The Logistics Manager will focus on freight, customs, bonded stock control, compliance, documentation, and logistics administration, ensuring goods move efficiently, compliantly, and cost-effectively through the supply chain.

Experience working with an in-house bonded warehouse will be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Imports & Exports

• Manage end-to-end import and export processes (sea, air, and road freight)
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines, and couriers
• Monitor ETAs, delays, landed cost implications, and delivery timelines
• Ensure accurate forecasting time of inbound and outbound shipments

Bonded Warehouse Management

• Oversee bonded warehouse processes and work together with the Warehouse Manager, including:
• Bonded vs duty-paid stock control
• Bonded stock movements and releases
• Accurate reconciliation between physical stock and customs records
• Manage documentation and compliance related to bonded inventory
• Ensure correct procedures are followed for removals from bond and duty payments
• Preferably experience working with or managing an in-house bonded warehouse

Customs, Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure full compliance with SARS customs regulations
• Prepare, check, and maintain all import/export documentation, including:
• Commercial invoices
• Packing lists
• Bills of lading / airway bills
• SAD documentation
• Apply and maintain accurate HS Codes and product classifications across all imported and exported goods
• Work closely with clearing agents to resolve customs queries or inspections
• Ensure correct tariff classifications, duties, VAT treatments, and customs values
• Maintain audit-ready records for customs and internal controls

Logistics Administration & Cost Control

• Track freight and clearing costs and assist with cost control
• Reconcile logistics invoices against quotes and shipments
• Assist with reporting on landed costs, lead times, and logistics performance
• Support process improvements within logistics and compliance workflows
• Consumables & Logistics-Related Stock
• Coordinate ordering of logistics-related consumables (e.g. packaging, freight materials, labels, etc.) as required
• Ensure stock availability aligns with operational needs

• Freight forwarders and clearing agents
• Customs authorities
• Internal finance and operations teams
• Warehouse Manager (collaborative, non-overlapping role)

Minimum Requirements

• 3–6 years’ experience in logistics, import/export, or supply chain roles
• Proven experience with imports and exports
• Solid working knowledge of HS Codes and product classification
• Strong understanding of bonded warehouse operations (beneficial, not needed)
• Good knowledge of customs processes and SARS requirements
• Experience working with freight forwarders and clearing agents
• Strong administrative and documentation skills
• Exposure to FMCG, retail, apparel, or similar industries
• Experience managing multiple shipments and SKUs concurrently
